The same record that produces a passport also produces what goes on and in the garment.
Care label PDFs
A care label PDF carries the standardised care symbols, the fibre composition in every passport language, the care text in the vetted languages, and the economic operator details that a label must show.
Open a published product and choose the care label download. The PDF is generated from the current published snapshot, so it matches the passport.
The physical label is still mandatory. The Textile Labelling Regulation is under revision and digital labelling is one option being discussed, but until a revision is adopted the printed label stays.
QR code sheets
A QR sheet contains one code per size, each labelled with its size and barcode, laid out for printing.
Each code is a GS1 Digital Link URL. The same code can be read by a consumer's phone and, as retail scanners move to 2D codes, by a till.
What to send a label supplier
Label bureaus generally want a file per size with the code and the text. Export the QR sheet and the care label PDF for the style, and send both.
Two things to agree with them:
Where the code goes. A hangtag is thrown away; a care label survives the garment. If the passport is meant to be useful for repair or resale, the code belongs on something permanent.
Size and contrast. A QR code needs a quiet zone around it and enough contrast to scan after washing. Your bureau will have minimum sizes for woven and printed labels.
Packing lists
From a purchase order you can generate a packing list per shipment, with quantities per style, colour and size, and the carton figures.
Test before the print run
Print one label at the real size, wash it if you can, and scan it with an ordinary phone camera. Two minutes of testing has saved entire print runs.
